Subversivt is organised around analytical focus. Its articles are therefore grouped according to what is being analysed, rather than how or when they were written.
A theme on Subversivt is a recurring analytical perspective: a way of examining contemporary society, institutions, technology and human experience through a particular lens. The themes are intentionally broad and long-term in scope, providing frameworks for deeper understanding.
Each article belongs to a primary theme—that is, the level of analysis that underpins the text. Some articles also form part of one or more projects: more cohesive, ongoing bodies of work with a sharper analytical focus. Themes and projects complement one another, but serve different purposes.
Subversivt works with the following areas of analysis:
Agency, Subjectivity and Resistance
Articles exploring human agency within complex systems: responsibility, autonomy, moral courage, fear, conformity and resistance. The focus is on what it means to be an acting subject under institutional, technological and cultural conditions.
The Body, Illness and the Practice of the Welfare State
Analyses of how the body—particularly the ill, vulnerable or non-conforming body—encounters the institutions of the welfare state. Topics include healthcare, illness, patienthood, medical authority, and the relationship between lived experience and administrative systems.
Culture, Norms and Social Order
Articles examining systems of norms, morality, sexuality, relationships and cultural conflict. The focus is on how social order is maintained, challenged and transformed, and on the ways norms operate as forms of power.
Contemporary Society, Ideas and the Future
Essays and analyses that bring together multiple perspectives. This theme encompasses synthesis, meta-analysis and reflections on broader social transformations and their possible consequences.
Technology, Infrastructure and Power
Analyses of technology as a social structure rather than a neutral solution. Topics include digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, algorithms, surveillance, and technological systems as mechanisms of governance and power.
Systems, Governance and Responsibility
Articles focused on institutions, organisations and governance: how responsibility is allocated, how governance operates in practice, and how systemic failures emerge when wholes become fragmented.
